Water Birds of Britain

Introducing my second painting of the year…. Water Birds of Britain! I have a huge soft spot in my heart for water birds. They are so relaxing to watch, probably because of the relaxing nature of water too. There are so many wonderful nature reserves in the UK offering the best places to observe these beautiful birds. Where’s your favourite? One of mine has to be Martin Mere WWT Nature Reserve in Lancashire. I think the magnificent heron has to be my favourite water bird.

How long did it take to create this painting? It took around 4 hours to illustrate the layout and outlining, another hour to ink in the black outlining and then around 5 hours to paint. These timings do differ from painting to painting.
